The role is hybrid: you are expected to work from a Hewlett Packard Enterprise office about two days per week.
Job DescriptionThe engineering team works on a highly scalable, distributed SDWAN application that is AI‑Driven. You will create and implement inventive solutions for the architectural complexities involved in intelligent path routing. You will work with other highly skilled engineers on the software development for WAN Assurance – a hyper‑scalable cloud AIOps platform.
Day‑to‑day activities include crafting new features, understanding existing features in a results‑oriented product, proposing solutions that fit our platforms, writing functional and design specifications, programming, unit and integration testing, reviewing specifications and code for other engineers, and documenting configuration aspects.
You will work 2–3 days per week at our office in Westford, MA.
AboutThe Role
- A Linux‑based networking platform using DPDK for the dataplane that ingests and forwards traffic from some of the largest companies in the world.
- Network software running on a hardware appliance that provides zero‑touch connectivity to the Mist‑managed network and SD‑WAN functions.
- Control plane systems that allow customers to express complex network configurations.
- Drive development from technology selection to product delivery, collaborating with product managers and designers to deliver the best user experience.
- Identify and improve the efficiency, scalability, and operability of the product.
- Participate in design and code reviews.
- Guide technical design.
- Remain deeply connected with customers – work with field engineers to understand, triage, and resolve issues, always aiming to improve the product.
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience developing large‑scale software systems.
- 3+ years of experience building and leading technical teams.
- Solid C/C++ development and debugging skills.
- Ability to deliver clean, modular code quickly and efficiently.
- Experience building large‑scale, reliable, highly distributed systems.
- Expertise in L2, L3, and/or L4 networking protocols.
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to solve complex customer problems.
- Own solutions end‑to‑end and drive design, development, and deployment.
- Foundations in object‑oriented design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Understanding of IP networking and socket‑based programming.
- High competency with multi‑threaded development.
- Experience developing on Linux operating systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with Test Automation, Agile development, Test‑Driven Development, and Continuous Integration.

Salary and CompensationThe expected salary range for this position (United States, Massachusetts) is USD 172,000 – 328,000 annually. Variable incentives may also be offered.
