Job Description
The 1st Shift Material Handler is an entry-level role responsible for moving materials throughout a busy warehouse, supporting truck loading and unloading, and assisting with packaging and unpacking of units. This position operates in a fast-paced environment and plays a key part in accurately placing electronic components such as modems and controls into boxes, ensuring products are prepared correctly for customers.
Responsibilities
- Move materials throughout the warehouse using pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, including moving boxes and pallets safely and efficiently.
- Support packaging and unpacking of units, ensuring all items are prepared according to established procedures.
- Place electronic components such as modems and controls into boxes with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to track inventory, import data, and maintain accurate records as needed.
- Perform general labor and production tasks including picking, order picking, assembly, and general material handling.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including inventory control, labeling, and organizing products in the warehouse.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 months of warehouse experience.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when handling and packaging electronic components.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to take initiative and stay productive without constant supervision.
- Basic understanding of English with the ability to communicate clearly in the workplace.
- Baseline computer skills, including the ability to import or enter data into warehouse systems.
- Experience with pallet jacks and general material handling.
- Comfort using RF scanners for picking, inventory, and shipping tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in general labor, production, or construction environments.
- Background in packing, packaging, and order picking.
- Knowledge of inventory control and shipping and receiving processes.
- Experience with warehouse forklifts, including sit-down forklifts, is a plus.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in warehouse or production settings.
- Ability to unload trucks and load boxes and pallets safely.
- Comfort working with electronic products such as modems and controls.
- Ability to work with basic computer systems for data entry and inventory tracking.

Work Environment
The role is based in a medium-sized warehouse operating on a 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The team is growing from the ground up, offering the opportunity to be part of building a new, collaborative warehouse operation. The facility may have doors open during loading, so temperatures inside can be cool or warm depending on the weather.
The environment involves frequent use of pallet jacks, RF scanners, hand tools, power tools, and standard warehouse equipment, with an emphasis on safety, productivity, and teamwork. Typical warehouse attire suitable for physical work and varying temperatures is expected.

This is a Contract position based out of Lawrence, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.63 - $16.63/hr.
