This position works 2nd shift (6 pm - 6 am with rotating days).
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORKPerforms intermediate technical work in quality testing of the finished product; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 35 pounds of work frequently; and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for color perception; for preparing and analyzing written or computer data; for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts; for use of measuring devices; and for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of the work. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions and atmospheric conditions.
FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
- Verifies the quality of finished ware that is put into inventory; audits product according to specifications;
- Verifies shade decisions before each run, and during packaging of finished product;
- Examines and tests random cartons of finished products and keeps records;
- Checks pallets for uniformity of product and enters pallet information into computer;
- Checks linear size of each run several times each shift and keeps records of these checks;
- Keeps records for shade control on each color, each run;
- Verifies and records size, thickness, warpage, and break-strength of each run of tile;
- Holds finished product that does not meet specification;
- Cleans tools and equipment used to perform duties;
- Performs related tasks as required;
- Practices correct safety procedures.
General knowledge of laboratory techniques, material, and equipment; general knowledge of the specifications for finished product; ability to take samples and perform the necessary tests; ability to keep records and prepare reports; ability to differentiate colors; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to make decisions involving the use of some judgment; ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year experience in a quality control laboratory or as a sorter.
