The Project Engineer is responsible for providing management and engineering support for capital projects. Initiates and supports continuous process improvement efforts while supporting Lean/Six Sigma efforts. Provides continual support to all departments. Works under minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise and leadership in the engineering disciplines to all departments to assist in development, conceptual, design, and performance.
- Initiates and provides engineering cost evaluation, design, and implementation of plant projects.
- Responsible for project management including machine design & integration, scheduling, planning, and cost estimation.
- Prepare complex machine layouts and detailed drawings in accordance with Engineering Standards and Factory Mutual safe practices.
- Develops new or improved techniques or procedures by creative and innovative application of broad engineering disciplines to achieve “state-of-the-art” technologies.
- Conducts research in problem areas of major scope and complexity.
- Performs or directs the preparation of engineering studies and/or design documents consistent with recognized standards and project requirements. Ensures proper level of technology is applied in new or existing designs and maintains accurate files of various projects.
- Select equipment and plan and oversee installation for various projects.
- Negotiate contracts for capital purchases.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
- Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing, preferably folding cartons or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and veal communications skills
- 5 – 8 years of experience with Auto Cad design software preferred
- Proficient use of MS Office…
