Job Summary

The Federal Work-Study Student Assistant in the Tuition Classification Office supports the daily administrative and customer service functions related to residency and tuition classification processes. This position provides students with hands‑on experience in higher education administration while assisting staff in maintaining accurate records, responding to student inquiries, and supporting compliance with University System of Georgia (USG) policies.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a point of contact for students, families, and campus partners via phone, email, and in‑person inquiries regarding tuition classification and residency requirements
  • Assist with reviewing tuition classification documents for completeness and accuracy under staff supervision
  • Scan, index, and maintain electronic and physical student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines
  • Update student files and track documentation receipt using institutional systems
  • Support outreach efforts by assisting with communication campaigns, information sessions, and office correspondence
  • Prepare materials for tuition classification events, audits, or special review periods
  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, copying, data entry, and spreadsheet maintenance
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive student information
  • Complete other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Tuition Classification Office
Required Qualifications Required Experience
  • Must have a Federal Work-Study Award
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment
  • Professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to apply judgment and discretion in performing confidential personnel matters
  • Ability to be highly organized, attentive to details, time management, and multi‑tasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email systems
Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
