Staff Assistant I
This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits. Job Description The Staff Assistant I is a part-time position in the Sheriff's Department. This position provides administrative support by performing routine duties such as answering phones, entering data, filing, preparing reports, and distributing mail. Essential Duties
- Preparing business correspondence and reports using word processing (Microsoft Word) and the computer
- Maintaining filing systems, organizing work, and using customer service techniques
- Providing customer service
- Operating standard office equipment and a document scanner
- Screening mail and handling routine items without direction
- Receiving calls for the section/unit, assisting callers, routing calls to appropriate staff, or taking messages
- Entering data into or retrieving data from an on-line computer system or personal computer to provide information or compile reports
Other Job Requirements/Information
- Public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
- May require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade The grade for this position is 97. Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
