Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional customer service and serve as the first point of contact for public communications regarding dispatch operations and provide clerical support for the department's dispatch operations.
  • Act as the point of contact for public communications regarding dispatch operations. Communicate professionally and assist parents, local school administrators, and internal staff.
  • Answer dispatch customer service telephones and handle customer concerns appropriately or direct the caller to the appropriate area for problem resolution.
  • Assist with dispatch scheduling activities. Schedule dispatchers' hours, including rotating night and weekend schedule. Schedule staff development, leave requests, annual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), filling in during absenteeism, and scheduling during seminars and outside workshops.
  • Manage the operations supervisor's calendar. Address basic issues arising from dispatch operations. Identify, investigate, and solve all concerns within the department, in absence of supervisor.
  • Assist with data collection. Ensure radio data and statistics are sorted, reviewed, and entered on various spreadsheets on a daily basis. Utilize chart data for problem solving and forecasting as requested by supervisor. Assist with generating statistical and written reports as necessary. Generate initial accident and injury reports.
  • Assist with coordinating emergency services. Contact and maintain positive relationships with local emergency agencies. Communicate with individuals from the local police, fire, and paramedic departments as needed to maintain and update courses of action.
  • Utilize various computer programs to communicate, collect data, track buses, locate students, call parents, and research bus manager and route information. Assist with special projects as assigned. Plan, coordinate, and execute projects as they occur. Assist with field trip and after school duties. Complete the monthly billing for the After School Department and train all personnel for both departments. Mentor new staff members as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
