Job Summary

The Information Technology Programming Bootcamp Cohort program is seeking a Student Assistant - Peer Tutor to provide academic support and assist with program operations for a cohort-based learning environment. The peer tutor will work closely with bootcamp participants, helping them strengthen their programming skills, apply technical concepts, and build confidence in problem-solving.

Responsibilities

* Tutoring & Academic Support:
Provide individualized and group tutoring sessions, assisting bootcamp cohort participants in understanding programming fundamentals, debugging, and applying coding principles.

* Cohort-Based Learning Facilitation:
Encourage collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and teamwork within the cohort to create a strong learning community.

* Skill Development & Reinforcement:
Help students apply coding techniques through hands-on exercises, review sessions, and additional learning resources.

* Program Assistance:
Support bootcamp operations by attending meetings, assisting with logistics, and facilitating study sessions or workshops as needed.

Required Qualifications

* Must be enrolled as an Information Technology major

* Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College each semester (including summer semester).

* Students must be available during designated Boot Camp sessions and semesters.

* Maximum commitment of 20 mentoring hours per semester (excluding Logistics and planning Meetings).

* Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.

* Must be in good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.

* Must have achieved a minimum grade of A in the following courses:

* Intermediate Programming (ITEC 2150)

* Advanced Programming (ITEC 3150)

* One faculty recommendation must be provided demonstrating subject proficiency and academic excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

* Actively pursuing a degree in a technology- or science-related discipline.

* Previous tutoring or mentoring experience, preferably in a programming or technology-related field.

* Applicants with advanced programming coursework or equivalent experience, particularly those who have earned at least an
¿ A¿ grade in Advanced Programming (ITEC 3150), will have opportunities to work with higher-level boot camp participants.

* Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills.

* Strong communication, interpersonal, and technical skills to effectively engage participants.
