Reporting to the Assistant Director for Customer Service, the Financial Aid Advocate advises on financial aid eligibility and awarding of federal, state, local, private and institutional aid. The role requires staying informed of current financial aid policies and regulations to ensure proper awarding and disbursement. Responsibilities include handling emails, call center tickets, and social media content creation. The position entails leadership within the Enrollment Management Services Division and a commitment to continuous improvement and first-class customer service.
Weekend and evening responsibilities are required.
- Provide face-to-face and external financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding federal, state, and institutional programs.
- Accept and review documents submitted for financial aid.
- Respond to and manage call center tickets, office emails, and office visits from students and families.
- Assist students in researching funding options, particularly for balances or extenuating financial circumstances; make recommendations for emergency funding to the Scholarship Manager.
- Research and interpret guidelines from financial aid programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Participate in outreach programs and presentations on and off campus; collaborate with campus partners and community organizations.
- Participate in professional conferences and share relevant information with other GGC departments.
- Serve on campus committees to increase the Office of Financial Aid Services’ visibility.

Bachelor’s degree - Required:
One year of relevant experience
- Experience with financial aid in a higher education environment; knowledge of Federal Title IV and State funding regulations preferred
- Knowledge of Banner, NSLDS, CPS
- NASFAA credentials preferred
- Bilingual abilities preferred
Proposed salary: $34,800 – $41,700. Salary offers depend on experience, qualifications, internal equity, budget, and salary guidelines.
