The Learning Experience Designer (LxD) collaborates with faculty and academic staff to design, develop, and continuously improve high‑quality learning experiences for students and professionals. Working within the Center for Teaching Excellence, the LxD provides consultation, instructional design expertise, and project management support for online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face courses and programs.
This role partners closely with instructors to translate learning goals into engaging and effective learning experiences grounded in evidence‑based teaching practices. The LxD also contributes to faculty development initiatives and supports innovative, ethical, and accessible uses of educational technology in higher education.
Essential Function 1 -
Collaborate with faculty and staff to design or redesign courses, programs, and learning experiences, including fully online, hybrid, and technology‑enhanced face‑to‑face formats.
Essential Function 2 -
Consult with instructors on instructional challenges, pedagogical approaches, assessment strategies, and effective use of educational technologies.
Essential Function 3 -
Apply evidence‑based instructional design principles (e.g., backward design, Universal Design for Learning) to create all‑encompassing, learner‑centered experiences; develop learning activity prototypes (e.g., interactive lessons, assessments, reflective activities, peer engagement) that align learning objectives, assessment, and instruction.

Manage learning design projects from initiation through implementation, including timelines, workflows, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance; test learning experiences and provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve learner experience and instructional effectiveness; monitor pilot offerings and analyze learner feedback and course data to inform iterative improvements.
