Job Summary

As a member of the Academic Enhancement Center, peer tutors will assist students in building academic skills and competency in the math, science, IT, and business areas through one-to-one and group tutoring sessions. The peer tutors will engage in and attend on-campus workshops, tutor training, professional development, and other required meetings in order to provide students with a quality experience.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate one-on-one tutoring sessions
  • Host small group tutoring sessions
  • Attend tutor meetings
  • Model good student behavior in the AEC
  • Participate in the AEC s TIC-TAC-TOE program, which will involve online tutoring and potentially tutoring in locations outside of the AEC
  • Complete CRLA Level 1 Tutor Training within first six months of employment, including ePortfolio completion within first year of employment
  • Participate in AEC events around campus
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a federal work study award
  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment
  • Some tutoring, teaching, coaching or mentoring experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum education required:
    High School diploma or GED
  • Must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Must be flexible to attend and/or present at offsite or on-campus workshops or professional development opportunities to enhance the program s efficiency
  • Must be able to attend the summer tutor training and other required meetings
  • Ability to work well with their peers and/or other students within the GGC community, either in the AEC or at other locations across campus
  • Ability to exhibit a level of competency or proficiency in the subject matter of hire
  • Must be able to handle confidential information
  • Must be able to maintain a regular weekly schedule throughout the semester

  • Majors in the area of desired tutoring
  • Dean s List students
