Instructor – Clinical Coordinator Cardiovascular Technology

This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.

Salary: $69,680/yr

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in field and R – Current in one or more of the following:
    Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Cardiovascular Diagnostic Sonographer (RDCS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and R – minimum TWO years in field experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • In addition to the minimum qualifications, Prior experience with JRC-CVT accreditation preferred. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Prior instruction in a JRC-CVT accredited program and experience in curriculum development. Experience in teaching college-level courses in two-year colleges or degree-granting technical colleges. Experience in the course and curriculum development, demonstrated flexibility with the diverse student population and learning styles; demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies.

    Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Ability to teach in the classroom. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Some experience with online instruction a plus.
Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom, lab or clinical instruction for credited Cardiovascular Technology or Echocardiography courses at Gwinnett Technical College. Implements program curriculum to meet state, national and/or accreditation standards. Develops program and syllabi, goals, and objectives. Teaches face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed to provide course delivery and scheduling options that promote student retention and program completion.

Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs, and other issues.

Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts and participates in college and community activities.

Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

  • Construct training modules, tools, materials, supplies and equipment to comply with local requirements for safety and security needs and in accordance with state and federal work safety standards.
  • Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
