This job is a part time, non-benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Nursing and Life Sciences Division that reports to the Program Director of Patient Care.

Schedule:

Classroom/Lab Instruction:
Tuesdays and Thursdays for 7 weeks, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., totaling 66 classroom/lab hours per semester, scheduled in 8-hour increments. Clinical Instruction:
Tuesdays and Thursdays for 1 week, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., totaling 24 clinical hours per semester, scheduled in 8-hour increments.

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10318) Registered Nursing (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current, active, unrestricted Georgia License. Minimum of two years of full‐time paid in field work experience as a RN or LPN within the past five years. One year must be in long term care. Must have train the trainer certification and approval with Alliant Health GMCF prior to teaching.

Experience in teaching and curriculum development. Active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organization.

Candidates for this position are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment.

Instructors must wear appropriate uniform to include a name tag that designates the name of the NATP and the individual’s status (student or instructor). Non-skid footwear must be worn during the clinical rotation. The request for approval of Program Coordinator and/or Instructors must be submitted in writing along with the program number, updated resume, current Georgia RN/LPN license, and Train-the-Trainer Certificate.

All new state-approved instructors and temporary instructors must complete orientation conducted by the Program Coordinator (PC). The orientation form must be maintained on file at the program location. Additional observation and assistance by the PC may be needed for new instructors in the clinical setting. A request for temporary approval for an instructor and/or Program Coordinator must be submitted in writing with the existing program number listed.

Temporary approval is not granted for new NATP submissions. Submit a copy of the current Georgia nursing license, resume, and cover letter requesting temporary approval. Temporary approval is granted at the discretion of the State Contractor.

Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab/clinical course material. Prepares lesson plans for classroom/clinical instruction for general core courses. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
