Objective

Project Manager will manage all aspects of the development and implementation of large automation projects. They will take projects from original as‑sold concept through to final implementation while managing scope, budget, and schedule and ensuring long‑term customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the day‑to‑day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large‑scale automation projects up to $10M+ in combined volume to provide a quality machine, on time and under budget while maintaining as‑sold revenue targets.
  • Serves as primary interface with the customer, sales, engineering and operations to identify and resolve technical, schedule and financial issues.
  • Reviews high‑level project deliverables based upon User Requirements and schedules/prioritizes them accordingly.
  • Prepares and presents status reports and schedule updates to Management and Customers at regular intervals.
  • Proactively identifies and manages changes in project scope, identifies potential issues, and devises contingency plans.
  • Estimates revenue recognition, ensures timely invoicing, and monitors receivables for all projects under his/her direction.
  • Integrates financial data for multiple projects through the Estimated Cost to Complete process on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain International Standardization Organization (ISO 13485) standards.
  • Develops the Risk Assessment Plan requirement of ISO 13485, GAMP5 via procedures within our Business Quality Management System (BQMS).
  • Forecast and analyze schedules, profitability, revenue, and utilization of resources across projects.
  • Recognizes Change Notice (CN) opportunities and executes in a profitable yet ethical manner.
  • Promotes aftermarket service offerings and spare parts.
  • Supports sales with customer visits and presentations as required.
  • Serves as key leader/participant in team and client project level meetings.
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to Management and peers.
  • Participate in design reviews and assist in the evaluation and redesign of project scope to meet customer requirements.
  • Inform Management of potential project risks for both the company and the customer and escalates as required.
  • Contribute to the troubleshooting and problem solving of technical issues and challenges as presented by the project team.
  • Evoke creative and innovative thinking from team members while helping to bring their ideas and plans to fruition.
  • Capture and share lessons learned and best practices at defined intervals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manages day‑to‑day client interaction and expectations for multiple automation projects.
  • Anticipates client needs and proposes alternative technical solutions where appropriate.
  • Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience

B.S. in Engineering/Manufacturing/Management or equivalent experience (5 - 10 years in automation project management). Appropriate automation experience to understand system design and participate in design reviews.

Required Skills
  • Solid functional knowledge of automation/packaging equipment.
  • Strong project management and project planning experience/knowledge with demonstrated ability to drive projects to successful completion.
  • Must be a self‑motivated and success‑oriented individual who overcomes obstacles both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and schedule management skills.
  • Broad knowledge of automatic assembly equipment (mechanical and controls).
