Junior Electrical Engineer - Sustainment & Obsolescence Management
Are you an early-career Electrical Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting products, supporting manufacturing, and improving long-term product reliability? We are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to support released products throughout their lifecycle while playing a critical role in building and managing obsolescence programs that keep products supportable, reliable, and cost-effective.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Field Service teams while developing expertise in sustainment engineering, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do- Support rapid resolution of technical issues impacting production and customer operations
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems in laboratory, manufacturing, and field environments
- Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Develop and implement product upgrades, retrofits, and design improvements
- Serve as a key contributor in developing and maintaining product obsolescence programs, identifying aging components, managing lifecycle risks, and ensuring long-term product supportability
- Work directly with suppliers to identify alternate components, technologies, and replacement solutions
- Analyze product performance and support warranty, reliability, and service investigations
- Maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, test records, schematics, and BOMs
- Support field service teams with technical expertise and problem resolution
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives
- Help reduce lifecycle costs while improving maintainability and system uptime
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in an electronics design and manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting electrical or electronic products after release to production
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and electronic components
- Familiarity with schematics, testing equipment, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
- Exposure to CAD or ECAD software tools
- Experience working within an ERP environment
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering BOMs
- Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Share Point
- Direct experience developing, supporting, or participating in component obsolescence management programs
- Experience identifying end-of-life risks, qualifying alternate components, and managing lifecycle sustainment activities
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and J-STD standards
- Familiarity with AS9100, MIL-STD, or other regulated manufacturing environments
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
This position goes beyond traditional electrical engineering support. The successful candidate will become a key participant in building and improving obsolescence management processes
, helping ensure products remain supportable for years to come. Candidates with experience managing component lifecycle challenges, supplier transitions, engineering changes, and long-term product sustainment will be especially successful.
