Staff Accountant (Faith Based - Non-Profit)
Location: Gwinnett County, GA (Lawrenceville) |
On‑Site: Monday‑Friday, 5 days a week |
Compensation: $55, per year
This full‑time, on‑site role supports the Accounting Manager with general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, donations, grant processing, month‑end close, audit preparation, and other accounting functions. The ideal candidate is committed to their faith, active in a local evangelical church, and has at least 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Responsibilities- Maintains financial records and ensures properly recorded transactions
- Ensures accuracy of ledger entries and reconciles subsidiary accounts to the general ledger
- Compiles financial data to aid in preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
- Assists in analyzing costs, revenues, commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses
- Performs Excel‑based reconciliations of ACH and credit card donations by date, source donor, fund, and settlement period
- Records charitable contributions, including preparation of gift receipts
- Performs Excel‑based reconciliations of internal cash transfers by date, source fund, and bank or brokerage account
- Prepares, reviews, and processes general ledger journal entries for ACH and credit card donations
- Prepares, reviews, and enters approved ACH grant disbursements
- Performs bank statement reconciliations
- Supports month‑end close process and aids preparation for the annual external audit
- Opens special projects as assigned
- 2+ years’ experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general bookkeeping (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience (required)
- A Christian whose life reflects spiritual growth and a commitment to ministry (required)
- Active participation in a local evangelical church (required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, lookups, formulas, etc.) (required)
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge (preferred)
- Desire to serve others and work in a small team environment
- High integrity and ethical behavior
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to confidential matters
- Pass a criminal and financial background check
