Network Engineer

Network Administrator

Combines strong technical skills with knowledge of network administration. Provides technical support to development team members. Works on one or more projects of high complexity. Collaborates with the Network Team and Department Director to ensure network security and connectivity. Provides end-user support for Tier-1 and Tier-2 level network issues. Assists in deploying/maintaining core switches. Independently deploys, configures, and updates edge switches.

Deploys, maintains, and manages campus telephone system. Maintains host name servers and their IP addresses. Maintains VLAN and IP address schemas. Ensures proxy authentication through NPS and Radius. Resolves escalations on end-user telephony issues, and wireless and wired networking problems. Configures/deploy/troubleshoots WAPs and their controllers and management systems. On-call 24x7 in case of emergency network issues. Mentors Junior Network Administrators and Student Assistants.

Ensures efficiency, security, reliability, usability, and scalability of network equipment. Manages administration of Campus Switches, Routers, and Firewall and their supporting applications. Researches and makes recommendations to improve networking and telecommunications standards and processes. Defines network policies and procedures, and documents completed projects and tasks. Maintains VoIP Call Center, hunt groups, and call routing. Troubleshoots complex network issues with little intervention from others or documentation.

Requires a 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience. Requires ten years of experience working with IP networks and supporting systems. Requires three years of experience working with Extreme Networks, Aruba, Cisco. Requires experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Palo Alto Global Protect VPN and Cisco VPN.
