This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA non‑exempt position in the Technology & Operations that reports to the Supervisor of Operations.

Salary
:
Targeted salary is commensurate with education and experience, not to exceed the budgeted amount of $33,280 per year.

Scheduled Hours

Evening position
:
Monday – Friday 1:30 pm – 10:30 pm;
Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; occasional Saturday.

Day position
:
Monday - Friday 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a minimum of six months' experience performing custodial duties.

According to state policy, certain positions are subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2‑year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2‑year ineligibility period for state employment.

Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, maintains proper care of Gwinnett Technical College facilities by maintaining a clean and sanitized environment. Cleans and maintains floors, surfaces, restrooms, and other spaces as assigned. Ensures restrooms and other facilities are properly stocked with appropriate products. Additionally, this person will be responsible for assisting with the setup and takedown for campus events and must be able to lift an average of up to 50 lb on a regular basis.

If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training as well as the Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogen training annually.

Duties/Responsibilities

Maintains proper care of technical college facilities (80%)

  • Cleans facilities, including blinds, windows, light fixtures, drinking fountains and walls, following established procedures.
  • Thoroughly vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax and clean building floors and carpets as needed.
  • Collects and disposes of trash receptacles in properly designated areas as needed. Thoroughly cleans receptacles.
  • Thoroughly cleans restrooms and fixtures. Ensures all toiletries and paper products are available for use.
  • Deep cleaning of restrooms/classrooms/labs.
  • Obtains proper supplies needed for each task and promptly returns unused supplies to appropriate storage areas.

Performs a variety of duties related to the job (15%)

  • Performs general repairs.
  • Assists with set‑up for campus events.
  • Moves furniture/relocates offices/classrooms.

Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College (5%).
