Job Summary

Under general supervision, maintains proper care of Gwinnett Technical College facilities by maintaining a clean and sanitized environment. Cleans and maintains floors, surfaces, restrooms, and other spaces as assigned. Ensures restrooms and other facilities are properly stocked with appropriate products. Assists with set‑up and takedown for campus events and must be able to lift an average of up to 50lbs on a regular basis.

If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training as well as the Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogen training annually.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a minimum of six months' experience performing custodial duties.

Duties/Responsibilities 80% – Maintains proper care of technical college facilities

• Clears facilities, including blinds, windows, light fixtures, drinking fountains, and walls, following established procedures.
• Thoroughly vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and clean building floors and carpets as needed.
• Collects and disposes of trash receptacles in properly designated areas. Thoroughly cleans receptacles.
• Thoroughly cleans restrooms and fixtures. Ensures all toiletries and paper products are available for use.
• Conducts deep cleaning of restrooms, classrooms, and labs.
• Performs floor maintenance.
• Obtains proper supplies needed for each task and promptly returns unused supplies to appropriate storage areas.

15% – Performs a variety of duties related to the job

• Performs general repairs.
• Assists with set‑up for campus events.
• Moves furniture, relocates offices and classrooms.
