Senior Director of Construction & Maintenance (Convenience Store / Retail Operations)

The Senior Director of Construction & Maintenance leads all aspects of new store development, remodels, capital projects, and ongoing facilities maintenance across a multi-unit convenience store/gas station portfolio. This role is responsible for delivering projects on time and on budget while ensuring operational excellence, brand consistency, safety compliance, and asset longevity.

Serving as a key member of the leadership team, this individual partners closely with Real Estate, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to support strategic growth initiatives while maintaining high-performing, well-maintained store environments.

• Directly manage the Director of Construction and Director of Maintenance, who oversee ~25 team members
• Oversee the budgeting and expenditure for the department and various ongoing projects
• Travel to various sites/projects working with internal/external stakeholders
• Construction- ensure the timely delivery of multiple construction projects across a network of ~215 company owned and operated C-stores
• Construction projects can range from site remodels, branding changes, rebuilds, ground-up development, and fuel system construction
• Manage various real estate activities that include but are not limited to lease management, divestitures, and store sales
• Environmental compliance- ensure that the company meets or exceed industry standards while complying with all processes and controls to ensure fuel quality
• Maintenance
  - Direct the leadership over a team concentrating on logistics for our field technicians, reports and quality assurance

• Build, lead, and mentor internal construction and maintenance teams.
• Establish clear performance metrics and accountability standards.
• Foster a culture of safety, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, ADA, environmental, and fuel system standards.
• Champion jobsite and store safety initiatives.
• Support risk mitigation and insurance claim coordination related to facilities.

• Partner with Operations to minimize disruption during construction and maintenance activities.
• Work closely with Real Estate on site feasibility, due diligence, and development timelines.
• Collaborate with Finance on capital planning and ROI analysis.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction and facilities management, ideally within convenience stores, retail, QSR, or multi-site environments.
• Proven experience managing ground-up construction, remodels, and large maintenance portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, fuel infrastructure, and retail operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and multiple concurrent projects.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and vendor management skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in project management, financial, presentation and communication software including Project, Word, Excel, Power Point
• Willingness to travel 25-50% as needed to support field operations.
