Overview

In collaboration with the Director of Endoscopy, the RN is responsible for the routine functioning of the Endoscopy Center and for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The RN provides individualized and specialized nursing care in accordance with physician orders, recognized nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nurse practice in Georgia, and the Center’s policies and procedures.

The RN plans, executes, and evaluates nursing care, interacts with patients at every phase, and works independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
Administrative
  • Assess the need for nursing care based on the schedule and ensure a staffing pattern that meets those needs.
  • Determine staff needs, develop or adjust schedules, and assign duties based on staff abilities, patient needs, and scheduling requirements.
  • Define nursing care needs in complex situations and identify nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of policies, procedures, and personnel handbook policies when assigning and administering nursing care.
  • Assist in continuing education activities for nursing personnel.
Clinical
  • Provide direction and consultation to nursing staff and guide implementation of the nursing process.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Document on all required forms.
  • Administer medication as directed by the physician under state nursing board guidelines.
  • Communicate and interpret standards and policies to staff, holding them accountable for current knowledge.
  • Facilitate quality improvement in care delivery.
Interpersonal
  • Maintain open, positive communication with nursing personnel, other health professionals, and conduct documented staff meetings and in‑services.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and significant others.
  • Maintain professionalism within the company and confidentiality of patient and personnel information.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and assigned committees.
  • Assume responsibility for performance management; consult with directors, perform evaluations, counsel, and utilize the disciplinary process.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow and bed management.
  • Act as a professional role model; demonstrate effective listening skills, encourage team participation in problem‑solving, and achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate awareness of cost‑effective resource utilization.
  • Show enthusiasm, energy, motivation, and creativity as a team member.
  • Supervise RN, LPN, and unlicensed personnel.
  • Collaborate with endoscopy manager, business office staff, clinical staff, and physicians.
  • Communicate effectively with Clinical and Medical Directors.
  • Cross‑train to perform other tasks in the center.
Qualifications
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Experience in surgical services or GI endoscopy required.
  • Two years of management experience preferred.
  • BLS required; ACLS certification recommended.
  • Good clinical assessment skills, flexibility, and basic computer skills necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Work under stress.
  • Moderate periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Good visual acuity.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, use fine finger movement, and discern temperature, texture, size, and shape.
  • Stand and walk for extensive periods and lift/carry items up to 25pounds.
