Job Summary:
The Wound Ostomy Nurse is responsible for providing specialized wound and ostomy care, developing treatment plans, and educating patients on wound management. They collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes through advanced clinical expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients’ wound and ostomy conditions to determine appropriate care plans.
- Implement evidence-based wound and ostomy care protocols tailored to individual patient needs.
- Educate patients and their families about wound healing, ostomy management, and related self-care practices.
- Document clinical findings, treatment interventions, and patient progress accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain required certifications and stay updated on advances in wound care practices.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license with current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in wound and ostomy nursing within the specialty.
- CWON(R), CWOCN(R), or equivalent wound care certification such as WCC, CWS, or CWCN.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of wound healing processes.
- Ability to educate and engage patients about wound and ostomy care.
- Flexibility to work scheduled hours including major and minor holidays.
