Position: Part-time Living Exhibits Attendant
Class Summary

Job Description

The Part-Time Living Exhibits Attendant position is responsible for providing daily care and maintenance for living exhibits, such as reptiles, amphibians, freshwater and saltwater fish and water feature systems. The position will be monitoring animal health and behavior, of the living exhibits, along with documenting observations and alerting the supervisors to any concerns. Additionally, the incumbent will be maintaining the inhabitant's life support systems (tanks, enclosures, filtrations, fountains) to ensure safe, clean and compliant environments and equipment.

Essential Duties

* Assisting with treatment and care protocols

* Assisting with creation and upkeep of animal care guides, records, and educational materials

* Supporting demonstrations, workshops and public programs related to living exhibits and native animals

* Performing routine grounds maintenance tasks to ensure clean, safe and well-kept outdoor areas

* Performing all other duties, as assigned

Public Speaking

* Delivering scheduled and impromptu interpretive talks about all of the living exhibits

* Leading live animal demonstrations and handling presentations for school ground and general visitors

* This job requires fingerprinting.

* This job will require working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Hourly rate

* This position pays $16.80per hour, up to 29 hours per week (not to exceed 1,508 hours per year).

Minimum Qualifications

* Associate's degree in wildlife biology or wildlife management, ecology, veterinary science

* 2 years of experience working in animal habitats

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

* Driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in wildlife biology or wildlife management, ecology, veterinary science
