Job Summary

The Audit Services Division reviews, analyzes, and conducts full‑scope audits of businesses and/or individuals to determine compliance with Oklahoma and Federal tax laws. Auditors apply tax law using the Internal Revenue Code and Oklahoma statutes, prepare audit reports, and provide recommendations while maintaining confidentiality of all tax information.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compile and submit audit review packets.
  • Review Internal Revenue and Oklahoma tax statutes.
  • Provide written and verbal communication and customer service to taxpayers.
  • Create, print, review and distribute audit correspondence items.
  • Attend mandatory training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Corporate Income
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Income tax statutes by auditing corporate, small business, partnership, tax‑exempt entity, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Identify non‑compliance and filing irregularities on business and individual returns.
  • Analyze business financial records, including federal income tax returns and adjustments.
Full Scope Business Audit
  • Ensure compliance with Sales Tax statutes by auditing sales tax, withholding tax, vendor use tax, consumer use tax, franchise tax, mixed beverage tax, waste tire tax, and lodging tax.
  • Review business tax returns, invoices, sales records, and financial documents.
  • Analyze bookkeeping records, general ledger, and financial records across Oklahoma, federal, and individual tax returns.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field
  • Four (4) years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, finance, or similar field
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equals a bachelor’s degree or the required amount of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed CPA or CIA certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, finance, or similar field
Physical Demands

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods; operate office equipment; see and read computer screen and printed material; hear and understand speech; lift up to 15 pounds; bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk, and reach. Duties performed in an office environment with moderate noise level.

Travel, Telework, and Confidentiality

Full Scope Business Auditors may be required to travel and must have reliable transportation and a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License. Telework may be required; applicants must be willing and able to work both on‑site and at an off‑site location, with a secure internet connection and a dedicated telephone or smartphone. The position has access to Federal Tax Information and must uphold confidentiality standards.
