Internal Auditor – Fort Sill Apache Gaming Commission

Location: Lawton, OK 73501

The Fort Sill Apache Gaming Commission (FSAGC) is accepting applications for the position of Internal Auditor. The Internal Auditor serves as the Commission’s independent audit and compliance professional responsible for conducting financial, operational, compliance, and special audits of the Fort Sill Chiricahua Warm Springs Apache Tribe’s gaming enterprises and operations. The role reports administratively to the FSAGC Director and functionally to the FSAGC Commissioners, and maintains independence from the departments and activities being audited to provide objective evaluations of internal controls, financial operations, and regulatory compliance.

Duties
  • Conduct financial, operational, compliance, and special audits of Tribal gaming enterprises and operations to ensure compliance with applicable ordinances, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), NIGC Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS), Oklahoma State Compact, and other Tribal, federal, and state laws.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, operational processes, and financial reporting systems to safeguard Tribal assets and promote regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare audit programs, work papers, reports, findings, recommendations, and follow‑up reviews in accordance with professional auditing standards.
  • Monitor corrective actions taken by management, conduct follow‑up audits, and ensure identified deficiencies are adequately addressed.
  • Investigate allegations of fraud, misuse of Tribal assets, internal control weaknesses, or other compliance concerns as directed by the FSAGC Commissioners or Director.
  • Present audit findings, recommendations, and compliance concerns to the FSAGC Commissioners and Director.
  • Serve as the Commission’s liaison with independent external auditors and assist with regulatory audits and reviews.
  • Maintain independence, objectivity, confidentiality, and professional judgment in all audit activities.
Conditions of Employment

The Internal Auditor must maintain independence from the departments and activities being audited, perform all duties with objectivity and impartiality, and remain suitable at all times in accordance with Tribal and federal gaming requirements. Any felony conviction or misdemeanor related to illegal gambling or bribery constitutes immediate disqualification or termination.

Compensation

Annual Salary: DOE (Depends on Experience)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Auditing, Criminal Justice, or a related field; or a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in gaming compliance, auditing, accounting, investigations, Tribal government, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of IGRA, NIGC MICS, TICS, Oklahoma State Compact, and generally accepted accounting and auditing principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, investigative, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare professional audit reports and present findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining objectivity and confidentiality.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Must pass a background investigation, drug screening, and obtain and maintain a Fort Sill Apache Gaming License.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, ethics, professionalism, and sound judgment.
