Position: Secretary and Office Support (Lincoln K8)
Location: Lincoln K8, Evansville, IN
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, 196 days per year. Inclusive of a research and administrative role with treasurer duties and a $1,751 annual stipend.

Position Summary

This role provides comprehensive administrative support to the school principal and serves as the primary point of contact for the school community. Key responsibilities include confidential clerical work, student enrollment management, payroll processing, budget oversight, and event coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as confidential secretary to the principal.
  • Make and receive telephone calls, take messages, and route calls.
  • Enroll new students, withdraw students, and update student information.
  • Maintain files and records, including free/reduced lunch, employee payroll, mentor/mentee, and school accounts.
  • Greet visitors and provide direction and assistance as needed.
  • Type, prepare, and create reports, distribute mail and other information, file, prepare correspondence, and manage clerical tasks related to school needs.
  • Process attendance, payroll records, and submit payroll for building staff.
  • Requisition school supplies, prepare work orders, manage a school budget, and maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Schedule building usage.
  • Operate standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and calculators.
  • Adhere to policies and regulations regarding release of students to custodial parents or guardians.
  • Engage in in-service training to improve and upgrade skills.
  • Maintain a pleasant, helpful attitude toward staff, students, parents, and visitors.
  • Provide substitutes with classroom directives and necessary information.
  • Arrange buses for field trips and compile after‑school bus schedules.
  • Serve as the school treasurer by collecting rentals, fees, and other school monies, making bank deposits, balancing books, and submitting monthly financial reports.

Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; previous office experience preferred.
  • Language skills: read, write, and speak clearly with correct grammar.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute ratios, percent, and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense in written and oral instructions; solve problems with limited standardization.
  • Physical demands: sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear regularly; occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds; ability to perform repetitive motions.
  • Work environment: indoor and outdoor areas, variable noise, exposure to sunlight, allergens, and occasional chemicals.
