Job Description

The Judicial Branch does not sponsor STEM (form i‑983) or non‑immigrant work visas for this position.

This classification level is responsible for working under general supervision and providing a variety of specialized customer service, clerical and administrative support to multiple courts. Responsibilities include scheduling court hearings, entering new case filings, processing and maintaining records, cashiering duties such as processing payments (fines, fees) and balancing daily deposits, preparing and submitting routine documents and reports, performing receptionist duties by answering general questions about court operations, and other clerical duties such as scanning, printing and copying documents.

The incumbent may also perform bailiff duties for a jury trial and serve as the liaison between jurors and the judge throughout the trial.

Job Duties
  • Performs advanced office and administrative tasks in support of court operations and serves as a lead to assigned clerical staff, assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
  • Schedules hearings with attorneys and other agencies; enters new case filings; prepares and records paperwork; prepares and distributes docket for court sessions; ensures completeness and accuracy of information and maintains related records.
  • Prepares, reconciles and ensures accuracy of specialized financial reports, invoices and budgets; processes payment (fines, fees) and balances daily deposits.
  • Creates and prepares reports, spreadsheets and other documents using established templates or original documents.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Salary and Compensation

    Starting Salary: $42,863.87 annually (Hiring Rate). Immediate Growth:
    Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing the probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate). Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval. Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post‑probation increase. Future Increases:
    Annual cost‑of‑living adjustments (applied on July1) are subject to State Legislature approval.

    Requirements / Qualifications
    • Minimum:
      High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
    • All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

    • Customer service principles.
    • Cashiering skills and ability to read bank statements.
    • Knowledge of state and federal laws; judicial, jail and court system; filing and recordkeeping principles.
    • Modern office procedures, methods and equipment.
    • Basic principles and practices in the assigned area of responsibility.
    • Computers and related software applications.
    • Providing customer service; prioritizing and assigning work to subordinate staff; processing information utilizing established procedures; using modern office equipment; maintaining records and files; preparing reports and forms; assembling and organizing data and information; using proper English, grammar, punctuation and spelling; using a computer and related software applications; communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.
    Physical Requirements

    Primarily sedentary; some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20lbs.
