Lincoln, NE. Hiring Rate: $17.642 per hour with $3.00/hour facility differential.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
As an Office Specialist in the Health Information Management (HIM) Department, you will support day‑to‑day operations, ensuring accurate, confidential handling of medical information and admissions processes. Key Responsibilities- Handle general office duties including answering phones, managing emails, and greeting visitors.
- Maintain and update files, records, and databases, ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Scan, retrieve, and import documents into electronic medical record systems.
- Complete requests for information and conduct audits.
- Serve as a liaison between departments to coordinate communication and documentation completion.
- Provide data entry, transcription, and specialized assistance as needed.
- Minimum:
Coursework or training in administrative support, personal computer operation, or related agency functions; or experience in customer service or public contact with administrative duties. - Preferred:
Experience in a medical or healthcare setting, familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), medical documentation, and health information workflows. - Strong data entry skills and the ability to handle confidential information accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with a high level of detail orientation and multitasking ability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Other:
May require specialized training, data entry speed certification, or background check.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures, agency policies, medical records and admissions workflows, office technology, database systems, and customer service practices.
- Skills in organization, time management, communication, active listening, critical thinking, problem‑solving, accurate data entry, and documentation review.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, interpret and apply procedures and regulations, track documentation, meet deadlines, coordinate across departments, recommend solutions, and improve workflow efficiency.
