Position: Instructor, Microsoft Applications/Business - FT

Instructor, Microsoft Applications/Business - FT

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean, the Instructor is responsible for teaching Microsoft Applications I and II, and other general business courses in both classroom and online settings. The instructor develops courses and objectives, implements instructional strategies, advises students, evaluates progress, and maintains accurate student records.

Essential Functions
  • Provide Instruction in Assigned Subject Area
    • Teach courses such as Microsoft Applications I and II using lectures, small groups, labs, and computer utilization.
  • Provide for Student Evaluation and Recordkeeping
    • Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement, and progress.
  • Remain Current in Events and Developments Related to Subject Areas
    • Improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through in‑service activities, conferences, workshops, technical updates, and self‑study.
  • Participate in Division and College Meetings and Committees
    • Attend scheduled business/Division/College staff meetings and serve on committees and teams, including assessment and strategic planning.
  • Serve as an Academic Adviser for Students
    • Advises approximately 60‑80 students on course selection and registration, quarterly progress review, and serves as first line of communication.
  • Develop/Revise Course Curriculum and Educational Material
    • Revise course objectives, content, descriptions, instructional strategies, evaluation instruments, policies, grading structures.
    • Recommend textbooks and instruct students in Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Functions as a Member of the Business Program Team
    • Promote a positive image of the program and institution, facilitate recruitment, placement, and orientation.
  • Participate in Value‑Based Culture Initiatives
    • Support an environment where all students, faculty, and staff feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute.
  • Perform Additional College Functions as Required
    • Assist with technology operations, data provision for budgets and accreditation reports, and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to teach Microsoft Applications I and II and other courses as necessary.
  • Proficiency with teaching technologies such as Zoom, cameras, and microphones.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, staff, students, and the public.
  • Competency in Office 365 applications, spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and presentation software.
  • Skill in developing and incorporating a variety of teaching strategies and evaluation methods.
  • Ability to serve as a substitute instructor within the Division when needed.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move equipment.
  • Must pass Microsoft Office Specialist exams within one year of hire (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Business Education, Information Technology, Instructional Technology, or Adult Education, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of work experience in a business setting or post‑secondary teaching experience in business education.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification required within one year of employment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
  • Two years of experience in the field.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching students located across multiple locations.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification.
Salary

$59,667 per year.
