Duties

  • Provide management and technical expertise for the Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program.
  • Integrate the mission requirements derived from Range and Training Land Program (RTLP) with environmental requirements and practices.
  • Establish procedures to achieve optimum, sustainable use of training lands by implementing a uniform land management program.
  • Ensure training mission requirements are included in land management decision processes.
  • Plan the annual and five-year programmatic budget.
  • Report Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program activities.
Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • TDY up to 10%
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience;

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support developing Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) training needs; experience planning short and long-term projects to support/sustain the training mission; assisting with planning and evaluating various land sustainment programs such as use of ranges, terrain and facilities; AND Contribute coordinating mission requirements and land maintenance activities to improve training land management decisions.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted

Additional information
  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 Years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
  • If applicable, returns rights may be negotiated upon selection. If return rights are approved, a return rights agreement/statement of understanding will be required to be completed prior to appointment.
