Job Summary:
The Sleep Technologist, or Polysomnographic Technologist, collaborates with physicians to conduct sleep studies, collect and analyze sleep data, and assist in diagnosing sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and narcolepsy. This role involves performing comprehensive sleep assessments to support clinical decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Perform overnight sleep studies by monitoring brain activity, heart rate, breathing patterns, and oxygen levels.
- Record and document clinical sleep data accurately for analysis and reporting.
- Maintain and calibrate sleep study equipment to ensure precise data collection.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop comprehensive reports based on study findings.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols during all procedures.
- Keep current with industry standards and certifications related to sleep technology.
Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience as a sleep technologist.
- Hold valid RPSGT or CPSGT certification.
- Maintain current BLS (AHA) certification.
- Demonstrate proficiency in recording and analyzing sleep study data.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and clinical judgment.
- Be eligible to work in the designated state with appropriate licensure.
