Database Administrator, Data Engineer
About the Role
The Nebraska Department of Labor is hiring an IT Applications Developer Sr. to work extensively with our evolving Data Warehouse. The senior developer will manage the full life cycle of data integration, design, implementation, and support, ensuring high-quality data and analytics for stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Assist and mentor peers and subordinates on application issues.
- Consult with clients to define application requirements and solve technical problems.
- Use application development tools and utilities to build, test, and deploy software.
- Prepare business problem definitions, gather information, and develop economic evaluations.
- Lead functional and technical design, system specification, and implementation planning.
- Build logical database models, validate data, and provide test data support.
- Create physical database designs, data access methods, and relational databases.
- Develop, assemble, compile, and debug code; perform unit and system testing.
- Document programs and provide ongoing support and assistance to end users.
- Coordinate with State OCIO for platform upgrades and data migrations.
- Act as SME for agency data projects, defining requirements and managing data dictionaries.
- Maintain database security and configuration, ensuring compliance with privacy requirements.
- Minimum (Senior): Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or related field; at least two years of coding experience or equivalent training.
- Minimum (Developer): Coding experience or equivalent training.
- Preferred: SQL, data visualization, data cleansing, statistics, communication, and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with Data Warehouse software, SFTP, scripting, and schedule management.
- Solid SQL skills for rapid query generation.
- Two or more years managing data systems or databases in a professional setting.
- Knowledge of Nebraska public service database systems and reporting tools.

Lincoln, NE (On‑site)
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.
Senior: $35.267 per hour;
Developer: $29.348 per hour.
