This field-based General Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance function of assigned Dollar General stores within a geographic area. The role requires immediate in‑person response to resolve maintenance tickets at assigned locations, including proactive assessment of preventive maintenance. Expect daily on‑site support with travel to store locations, partnering with store leaders to identify and address entry‑level maintenance repairs, including preventive maintenance.

The Technician will educate store leaders on maintenance best practices to ensure longevity of coolers, freezers and equipment, and will use the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document, communicate and interact with key business partners. Interaction occurs with all levels of operational leadership and occasional senior leadership and external vendors/service providers. The role directly supports Dollar General’s maintenance standards and customer service mission.

• Travel to sites where maintenance concerns have been reported by store leadership.
• Troubleshoot, collect and verify asset information for on‑site service projects, guiding leadership on operational solutions, preventive maintenance and entry‑level repairs.
• Support entry‑level maintenance, including light exterior grounds support and assessment of safety equipment per local ordinances.
• Document and resolve tickets within a designated time frame to meet business needs.
• Perform root‑cause training when necessary.
• Occasional after‑hours work may be required based on repair urgency.
• While on‑site, perform checklists to determine if preventive or small maintenance activities can be completed and educate store leadership on operational processes.

• Exceptional problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify and support entry‑level repairs.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – senior executives, organization, external.
• Unbridled commitment to customer service.
• Ability to work with multiple priorities.
• Previous store management / retail experience (preferred).
• Capability to lift 50 lbs or more.

• High school diploma or applicable experience.
• Active driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.
• Ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
