Overland Corporation is seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Operator to support asphalt production operations in Lawton, Oklahoma. This position is responsible for managing daily asphalt plant production activities, supervising plant personnel, maintaining production and quality standards, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, safety-focused, and experienced in asphalt plant production, aggregate materials management, and equipment maintenance.
JOBDUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:
- Manage and direct asphalt plant production crews to meet daily production goals and schedules.
- Monitor production costs, material quantities, and production reports to ensure operational efficiency.
- Coordinate plant operations including planning, scheduling, equipment utilization, and material acquisition.
- Interact professionally with owners, clients, subcontractors, vendors, trucking companies, and paving crews.
- Execute production work plans while effectively managing crews and equipment resources.
- Maintain daily timekeeping records, equipment logs, production reports, and daily diaries.
- Train and mentor plant personnel on safety procedures, production goals, equipment operations, and maintenance practices.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings regularly.
- Report injuries, incidents, damages, and unsafe conditions promptly to management.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and organization throughout the asphalt plant facility.
- Monitor and protect company assets while helping prevent vandalism and equipment damage.
- Perform asphalt plant inspections and oversee preventative maintenance activities.
- Recruit, interview, and assist with hiring qualified employees for plant operations.
- Participate in personnel management activities including coaching, discipline, promotions, and performance evaluations.
- Safely operate company vehicles and maintain eligibility to drive company equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Must have valid driver’s license with positive driving history.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt plant operations, production processes, and equipment utilization.
- Understanding of aggregate materials management and quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with asphalt plant maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and safe operating procedures.
- Understanding of production reporting, inventory tracking, and equipment management.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of asphalt plant production experience required.
- Supervisory or crew leadership experience required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Dependable, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented work ethic.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, overtime, and 50+ hours per week as needed.
- Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, push, pull, twist, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and elevated plant structures daily.
- Comfortable working at heights when required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
