Job Description

Western Hills Christian Church is an independent Restoration Christian Church with a clear and simple mission:
Come to Christ – Grow in Christ – Love like Christ. We believe in faithfully following the teaching of the New Testament. Our calling is to bring the lost to Christ by sharing the good news of salvation, then guiding them through scripture to repent, confess and be immersed in baptism and then continue to grow in Christ. At WHCC we are committed to living and loving like Jesus in everything we do.

WHCC is seeking a Family Minister for Youth and Children. Pastor. This position’s primary focus will be discipline, empowering, recruiting, and building relationships with youth and children to “Come to Christ, Grow in Christ, and Love Like Christ”
This position will also partner with parents and volunteers to implement activities and age appropriate curriculum for our children that will help them grow in their faith at each age and stage.

This person will also engage our youth and children by building relationships outside the formal church gatherings (ie visiting schools and attending activities). The focus being the oversight of Youth and Children’s Ministry (PK-12).

Ideal Candidate
  • An outgoing individual who loves the Lord, is married, and has a heart for youth and children.
  • Meets and maintains the requirements of Deacon/Elders laid out in Timothy and Titus.
  • Prioritizes discipleship and relationships.
  • Equips, delegates, and teaches God’s Word effectively.
  • Is willing to be mentored and can grow in the role as the church grows.
  • Clearly communicates with parents and volunteers, handles conflict well, gives wise counsel, and becomes an active member of our church family.
Responsibilities
  • Youth and Children’s ministry (PK-12).
  • Build and maintain relationships with the youth, children, and families.
  • Oversee recruitment and equipping volunteers.
  • Partner with volunteers to disciple the youth.
  • Organize engaging weekly gatherings with the purpose of helping these ages grow in Christ.
  • Accompany youth and children to camps. CIY, etc.. (personally attending at least two of these events).
  • Create follow-up plan that encourages guests and new families to get connected.
  • Connect with area schools and families in the community outside of formal church gatherings.
  • Help plan and organize.
    • VBS or its alternative.
    • Fall Festival or its alternative.
    • Christmas parties/events for youth.
    • Other events requested by Senior Minister.
    • Organize additional activities throughout the year in order to build relationships in the church and community.
  • Counsel with youth and families to work through difficult situations.
  • Work as a team player alongside the rest of the church staff.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
Pastoral Ministry
  • Participate in hospital ministry.
  • Connect with guests, members, and people in the community.
  • Write ministry report for the monthly board meeting and church.
  • Assist in worship service as needed.
  • Assist the Senior Minister as needed.
  • Other responsibilities may be added as needed.
Accountability
  • The Youth and Children’s minister is accountable to God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit to lead in this pastoral position according to the whole counsel of God and His Word.
  • This position is supervised by the Senior Minister.
  • This position reports to the elders.
Education and Experience:
  • Two or more years of full time ministry experience required.
  • A ministry degree from an accredited Christian college is preferred.
Vacation and Time Off
  • After one year of employment, the Youth and Children’s minister can take up to 2 paid.
  • Sundays off in conjunction with their vacation time.
  • In the event of sickness or personal leave, the Youth and Children’s minister is responsible for coordinating substitute leaders for any events/services that will be missed.
  • The work week for ministerial staff at WHCc is Sun-Thurs.
  • Friday and Saturday are days off.
  • Changes to days off when the Youth and Children’s minister is attending to their duties on days other than normal working days is permitted and acceptable (i.e. camp, CIY, weekend youth and children’s events).
  • Any change will be coordinated with the Senior Minister
