DEFINITION
The Family Nurse Practitioner has special knowledge and skills in health maintenance, disease prevention, psychosocial physical assessment and management of health-illness needs in the primary care of the family.
EDUCATIONMust be a graduate of an accredited program of nursing. Must have successfully completed additional theoretical and clinical education through an accredited graduate level family nurse practitioner program.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)Must maintain current Oklahoma licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and as an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP). Must maintain current certification as a family nurse practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience as a family nurse practitioner is preferred but not limited required.
