Position Summary
Serve with purpose at the Indian Health Service (IHS) as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. In this position you will design and deliver anesthetic care from pre‑operative assessment through recovery, make high‑impact clinical decisions, and provide essential care to patients in a mission‑focused setting.

Responsibilities- Provide and establish treatment plans for patients undergoing surgical operations by administering appropriate anesthesia techniques such as general anesthesia or sedation.
- Assist in emergency cases by applying resuscitation techniques to patients.
- Review patient clinical charts and maintain medical records to determine the type of anesthesia to administer.
- Interpret and utilize patient surgery data to determine the need for supportive therapy.
- Manage post‑anesthesia care of patients, determining the presence or absence of complications and ensuring continuity of care.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Successful completion of a federal background investigation is required.
- Background check forms must be completed within five (5) calendar days of issuance.
- On‑call hours or standby duty may be required; rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) are possible.
- Successful pass of the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Direct deposit must be set up for payment.
- Education for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions:
Graduate or higher‑level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the indicated specialty. - Licensure:
Passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. - Advanced Practice Nurse Requirements:
Licensed or registered by a state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory in the clinical specialty required by the position. - GS‑11:
Either completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS‑9) and a master’s degree in professional nursing. - GS‑12:
At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS‑11 and demonstrated expertise in pre‑operative, peri‑operative, and post‑operative care of surgical patients and airway emergency management. - GS‑13:
At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS‑12, with demonstrated ability to manage patients throughout surgery, interpret monitoring data, provide supportive therapy, and manage post‑anesthesia care and complications. - Experience with anesthesia techniques and agents, knowledge of nursing policies and procedures related to anesthetic care.
