Position Overview

The Operating Room/Perioperative Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality patient- and family-centered care across all stages of perioperative services. Serving as a primary patient advocate, this role maintains strict surgical standards of nursing practice, applies expert sterile techniques, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute comprehensive care plans for diverse patient populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perioperative Care: Deliver safe, quality nursing care in the operating room and perioperative areas in compliance with professional surgical standards.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct head-to-toe assessments and initial/ongoing reassessments for all patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric care.
  • Pain Management: Adequately assess, reassess, and manage patient pain using appropriate clinical techniques.
  • Care Planning & Collaboration: Develop and implement nursing care plans in close coordination with physicians, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and ancillary disciplines.
  • Sterile Technique & Safety: Maintain thorough knowledge and practice of sterile technique, maintaining a safe clinical environment at all times.
  • Workflow & Priorities: Effectively organize workloads, manage shifting priorities, and guide multi-level staff during dynamic surgical assignments.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Licensure: Active, current Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required (STRICTLY ENFORCED).

  • Clinical Expertise: Deep understanding of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, and age-specific care delivery.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead and coordinate care alongside ancillary personnel.
  • Critical Thinking: Detail-oriented with proven ability to assess complex situations, prioritize task execution, and adapt quickly to changing environments.
