Utility Locate Auditor
What you will do:
- Complete and maintain all required training.
- Perform comprehensive field audits of completed gas line locates to ensure accuracy and adherence to client specifications, mapping, and procedures.
- Review locate marks, equipment use, and documentation for compliance with applicable state one‑call laws and client standards.
- Identify missing, incorrect, or incomplete markings and initiate corrective action.
- Validate map accuracy, facility depth, and facility placement when needed using approved locating tools or visual verification methods.
- Monitor and document compliance with excavation safety standards, including tolerance zones and proper marking practices.
- Conduct follow‑up audits after reported damage or near‑misses to assess root causes and recommend improvements.
- Partner with Damage Prevention leadership to ensure consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain detailed records of audit findings, corrective actions, and quality scores.
- Collaborate with contractors, supervisors, project managers, and client representatives to resolve issues and strengthen damage prevention efforts.
- Complete accurate audit reports using company systems, photos, and required documentation.
- Communicate deficiencies and corrective actions promptly to leadership and field teams.
- Positions self to access tools and materials in various locations.
- Traverse job sites having uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
- Move materials weighing up to 75 pounds periodically.
- Conduct visual assessments of task quality and job site safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 13 years of experience in utility locating, damage prevention, natural gas distribution, or related field.
- 57 years in construction, excavation, site safety, and damage prevention.
- Familiarity with natural gas systems and related regulations (CFR 192).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, One Drive).
- Primarily field‑based role must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, able to work onsite at a WSB office as needed, and have reliable transportation to travel daily within assigned territory; travel may be required.
