Job Overview
Background:
The Reception and Treatment Center seeks a skilled plumber for building maintenance, focusing on repairing facility plumbing items.
Location:
Lincoln, NE. Hiring rate: $24.001 per hour, plus an additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked. Hiring Agency:
Correctional Services – Agency 46.
- Install, alter, repair, and maintain pipe systems above, below, and within structures (walls, floors, ceilings, etc.).
- Work with plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, tubs, water heaters, faucets, and kitchen/laundry equipment.
- Maintain and repair components like traps, vents, drains, siphons, pumps, valves, and shock arrestors.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to identify and correct deficiencies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications; sketch plumbing layouts.
- Estimate time, materials, and cost for work orders; requisition necessary supplies.
- Install and maintain fire protection sprinkler systems, sewage systems, and water treatment facilities.
- Repair and adjust mechanical equipment including water/steam pumps, compressors, and fuel storage systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
- Train and guide helpers and apprentices in plumbing techniques and safety procedures.
- Training and experience in the plumbing trade.
- Must be willing to be on call 4-5 times throughout the year.
- Applicants must pass the following pre‑employment exams in order: medical exam, and a randomly announced drug test.
- Must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program at the Staff Training Academy.
