Software Engineer – Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS)

Leidos Defense in Lawton, OK seeks a mid-level software engineer to develop and integrate advanced modeling, simulation, and AI capabilities for Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

In this role you will collaborate within an agile development team, turning user stories into implemented solutions, testing, and deploying new capabilities that support national defense.

• Coordinate with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure alignment between User Stories and business/customer objectives for modeling & simulation and AI capabilities.
• Develop, test, and deploy software within an Agile Scrum framework, covering design, implementation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Integrate advanced modeling and simulation features into existing and new C-UAS systems to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Document software designs, algorithms, and integration processes for maintainability and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and third‑party vendors to seamlessly integrate external software and tools.
• Apply machine‑learning techniques to optimize system performance and automate decision‑making processes.
• Contribute to research and development and production systems that support customers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, and WPF.
• Fundamental knowledge of software design patterns.
• Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues.
• Adaptability to rapidly changing requirements and technologies in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong sense of ownership and passion for learning complex problems.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

• Experience with IDEs and software version control systems.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
