We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the H eavy Civil Construction Estimator.

The primary responsibility of this role is to increase revenue by building and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, trades, engineers and municipalities by seeking out opportunities for growth, securing competitive vendor pricing and preparing cost-effective take-offs and estimates.

You will greatly contribute to the preparation of current and future land planning, development and civil projects of Marriott Communities as well as outside opportunities.

You will ultimately be responsible for seeking opportunities for growth & increasing revenue by procuring projects through relationships and competitive estimating.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years of estimating, engineering, and trade experience related to heavy underground civil construction
  • Excellent communication skills and public relations with established relationships and track record for increasing revenue
  • Proficiency in construction estimating with a solid understanding of how to read and interpret construction drawings for civil construction, create take-offs, and manage projects
  • Experience in seeking and r esponding to RFPs for estimating
  • Building relationships with suppliers and trade partners to learn of upcoming jobs
  • Experience in data management and maintaining cost databases is highly preferred
  • Master in AutoCAD, Bluebeam and B2W are key
  • Trimble Vista experience is a plus with proficiency in Office 365 with a strong emphasis on Excel
  • Physical Ability to stand, sit, bend, crouch, use fingers and hands to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low
  • Must be able to lift &/or carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. as needed with or without assistance
  • Valid Driver License and dependable transportation to the jobsites, as well as proper clothing for the environment
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
  • Coordination with Construction Manager & Project Manger to bid and secure construction projects
  • Conduct project site visits to gather necessary date, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs
  • Review sizes, distances, and quantities and determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
  • Identify project risks and opportunities, quantify, assign costs and develop strategies to mitigate
  • Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty service companies for RFPs
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors, adhering to scope and specification to analyze and evaluate quotes to ensure competitive pricing and to achieve budget targets
  • Estimate project costs by reviewing plans, creating take-offs, calculating quantities, and constructing bid submissions of projects
  • Prepare cost estimates and bidding documents for construction projects or services that are used by management in preparation for the bidding process
  • Acts as a resource to project management during the award and start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction
  • Coordinate pre-construction meetings with Construction Manager and Project Manager
  • Provides technical assistance to internal teams and external partners while managing the contract from start to finish
  • Prepare budgets, costs and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
