Job Summary:

The General Laborer supports daily field operations on commercial excavation and site development projects. This position performs manual labor tasks related to earthwork, underground utilities, and concrete, and works as part of a crew to complete work safely, efficiently, and in coordination with operators and supervisors.

Work includes physical labor in outdoor conditions and around heavy equipment. Responsibilities involve assisting with trenching and grading, pipe and utility installation, material handling, site cleanup, and general support of excavation activities. The role requires following direction, maintaining awareness of job site conditions, and adhering to all safety requirements.

This position is expected to contribute to overall crew productivity by being reliable, prepared for work, and willing to take on a variety of tasks as needed to keep the job moving.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform manual labor to support excavation, grading, and site development activities
  • Assist with trenching, back filling, and compaction operations
  • Support installation of underground utilities, including pipe laying and alignment
  • Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment as directed
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, including debris removal and site prep
  • Work safely around heavy equipment, maintaining awareness of surroundings and crew activity
  • Follow direction from foremen, operators, and supervisors to complete assigned tasks
  • Use hand tools and basic power tools in a safe and effective manner
  • Assist with traffic control and site safety setup as needed
  • Identify and communicate hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and job site procedures
  • Report to work on time and prepared for assigned duties
  • Perform other general labor tasks as needed to support crew productivity and project progress

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role will not supervisor other crew members.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
  • Previous construction or excavation experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physical labor in a demanding outdoor environment
  • Basic understanding of construction tools and job site practices
  • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a crew
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, including consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on a variety of tasks as needed
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members
  • Awareness of job site safety practices and willingness to follow all safety requirements
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification…
