Job Summary/Basic Function
The Career Readiness Coach for the Dumke College of Health Professions serves as the primary career development professional for students pursuing healthcare careers at Weber State University. This position provides individualized career coaching, develops healthcare-specific career readiness programming, and builds strategic partnerships with healthcare employers to prepare students for successful transitions into the workforce.
Serving as the liaison between Career Services and the Dumke College of Health Professions, this position collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, clinical coordinators, alumni, and healthcare organizations to integrate career readiness throughout the student experience. The Career Development Coach supports students from career exploration through employment by providing coaching, facilitating professional development opportunities, connecting students with experiential learning, and expanding employer partnerships that enhance admission into health professions programs and successful post‑graduation employment.
This position works collaboratively with Career Services staff and college partners to align career readiness initiatives with workforce needs while supporting Weber State University’s commitment to student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
This position requires the ability to work some evenings and weekends to support employer events, career fairs, presenting in classes, students, and University programming.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a health professions discipline (such as Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Allied Health, Health Promotion, Public Health, or Health Sciences) or other related areas (Human Resources, Business, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Communication, etc.)
- Two years professional experience in a healthcare setting, workforce development, career coaching, academic advising, talent acquisition, human resources, clinical education, or other areas related to the responsibilities above. Demonstrated experience building relationships with employers, healthcare professionals, faculty, or community partners.
Preferred:
- Experience providing career coaching or academic advising in higher education, or related higher education experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with people from a broad variety of backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent software with the ability to quickly learn new applications.
