Overview

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer located at Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah. This position supports engineering and technical management activities across the acquisition lifecycle within the Training Division (AFLCMC/WNR) at Hill Air Force Base. The WNR Division serves as the Air Force's technical, acquisition, and sustainment authority, delivering comprehensive and mission‑critical support to the warfighter. The division oversees a wide range of Air Force systems including Electronic Warfare, Range Systems, Air Combat Training, Command and Control Systems, Advanced Radar Threat Systems, and Combat Survivor Evader Locator systems.

WNR also provides ongoing support to depot‑level sustainment, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and partners such as the U.S. Army, Navy, PACAF, ACC, AFMC, and AETC.

  Bachelor's Degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited program with 12 years of directly related experience, including 5 years in a DoD environment

• Requirements development across production, deployment, operations, and sustainment
• Architecture development and implementation
• Modeling and Simulation, including Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles

• Network architectures, embedded systems, and application deployment across hardware platforms
• Cloud deployment and virtualization environments
• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD), and Production & Deployment

• Master's Degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited program with 10 years of directly related experience, including 5 years in a DoD environment

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, the Senior Systems Engineer provides expert‑level engineering support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The role assists government leadership with systems engineering planning, execution, technical oversight, and lifecycle management to ensure compliance with program specifications and mission objectives. Position supports Foreign Military Sales (FMS) workload (FMS experience preferred but not required).

• Conduct program and portfolio reviews to evaluate technical baselines, alternative plans, system designs, and test results
• Design and perform system‑level tests to ensure subsystem and overall system performance meets approved specifications
• Validate systems through development of evaluation criteria and analysis of engineering results
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations supporting planning, implementation, and corrective actions

• Provide engineering support across acquisition phases including material solution analysis, technology maturation, engineering and manufacturing development, production, deployment, installation, and operations oversight
• Support proposal analysis activities by evaluating technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness
• Assist with source documentation including ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, AoAs, Military Utility Assessments, CONOPS, Technology Development Strategies, FCAs/PCAs, and Technology Standards Profiles
