Manufacturing Engineer
Position Description
This position is located onsite in Layton, Utah. NC Engineers are responsible for creating and maintaining NC programming and machining processes. An ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, an aptitude for CNC and machining processes, and should be technically knowledgeable of a wide range of manufacturing aspects. Activities will include CNC programming, machining process development, ownership of machining related projects including any pre and post machining operations.
EssentialJob Functions
- Maintain knowledge and development of the most up-to-date CNC/machining practices
- Develop and train personnel to new processes
- Work with CNC programmers and project teams to effectively process parts through CNC machines
- Communicate, consult with, and participate in design and manufacturing support
- Help to develop and release planning and purchase supplies
- Maintain an overview of production processes and facilities
- Develop and execute high‑level and detailed project plans, including managing schedules and budgets
- Work directly with the customer technical team to determine detailed requirements and deliverables, and communicate or present to the customer on project status or health
- Direct and participate in engineering activities, including design and drafting, engineering reviews, and work order preparation
- Ensure materials are organized and ready for manufacturing
- Interact frequently with shop floor to ensure project health
- Complete and understand all quality requirements for projects
- Manage project scope and perform risk assessments
- Monitor and report project financial performance
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times
- Maintain excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English
- Maintain good attendance and be punctual; this is an essential function of the job
- Perform other duties as assigned
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or have Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
Education & Experience- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Design Technology, or a similar field is required
- Or a combination of extensive work experience (10+ years) and additional education may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
- Experience with CNC programming/machining
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products; experience with Catia, NX Unigraphics, and SAP is desirable
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
- Reliable problem‑solving skills and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Wage range for this role is between $83,000 and $148,000 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, with 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees may also receive additional pay for off‑shifts, off‑site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role; the actual amount offered will be based on job‑related and non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, and skills.
