Job Overview
Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects, identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Works collaboratively across the branch and with BMO partners to deliver a desired customer experience and achieve business objectives. Engages customers proactively, performs needs‑based assessments, recommends tailored solutions including everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing and small business solutions, and promotes digital self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
Key Responsibilities- Engage customers to complete needs assessments, identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels, and recommend tailored sales and service solutions.
- Support customer transactions and generate appointments by building relationships within the community.
- Resolve issues raised through consumer credit audits and quality checks, ensuring accurate data entry and lending application recommendations in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Apply the risk management framework to the portfolio to protect the bank’s assets and maintain lending portfolio quality in compliance with policies and quality guidelines.
- Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, following sound credit granting principles and bank policies.
- Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations to provide strategic advice and increase customer loyalty.
- Organize work information, ensure accuracy and completeness, and propose creative approaches for a personalized customer experience.
- Contribute to business results and continuous improvement of overall customer experience.
- Collaborate with branch and market teams, work across multiple branches or channels, and adapt to varying schedules.
- Follow risk and compliance processes, safeguard customer assets, protect privacy, and maintain ethical standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of personal banking products, market trends, legal and regulatory environment, and identify suspicious activity related to money laundering.
- Handle complex diverse tasks within rules and limits, analyze issues, determine next steps, and manage escalations when required.
- Apply the risk management framework in decision‑making to align with risk appetite and business strategy.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- For Canada:
Registration to sell investment products as required by the jurisdiction. - Appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
- Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs, retail investments and lending products.
- Experience in financial services is an asset.
- Confidence and proficiency in using social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools and applications.
- Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and connections with customers.
- Aptitude for listening, solving problems, and responding flexibly to challenges.
- Resourceful self‑starter capable of approaching customers with courage and confidence.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Salary range: $41,714.00 – $65,000.00 (salaried). Pay may vary based on location, skills, experience, education and qualifications. Commission structure may be included for eligible roles.
