In this position you will provide emergency fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. This equipment includes firefighting, hazardous materials, wild land firefighting, technical rescue, aircraft rescue firefighting and ambulance services. Hill AFB Fire and Emergency Services consist of six fire stations servicing Hill AFB (main installation) as well as two Geographically Separated Units (GSU's) which are the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR) and Little Mountain test complex.

  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Required to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) within 1 year of employment date.
  • The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
Recruitment Knowledge

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic and specialized fire alarm systems equipment, operation, techniques and procedures, to include research and retrieving information from various guidebooks and other resources.
  • Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using tact and courtesy.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and technical orders.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn computer programs in order to track vehicle status, manning, personnel assignments, resolve discrepancies and prepare reports.
  • Basic knowledge of frequently used and clearly stated instructions and regulations to respond to a range of recurring questions.
  • Skill in operating complex communications systems such as multi-line telephones, two way radios, alarm equipment, public address systems and voice recording equipment.
  • Ability to act calm, rational and to speak clearly and distinctly at all times while interviewing people and gathering information.
  • Familiar with the disaster preparedness emergency response plan, firefighting techniques, equipment capabilities, various types of structures, mutual aid agreements/department capabilities.
