Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a PRN MRI Tech for our various locations.

Essential

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct screening interviews of patients to identify contra-indications, such as ferrous objects, pregnancy, prosthetic heart valves, cardiac pacemakers, or tattoos
  • Operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques or coils to produce required images
  • Inspect images to ensure image quality
  • Take brief medical histories from patients
  • Position patients on cradle, attaching immobilization devices if needed, to ensure appropriate placement for imaging
  • Explain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to patients, patient representatives, or family members
  • Inject intravenously contrast dyes, such as gadolinium contrast, in accordance with scope of practice
  • Provide headphones or earplugs to patients to improve comfort and reduce unpleasant noise
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
  • ARRT certified required
  • MRI certification preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in MRI preferred
Other Requirements
  • IV certification preferred
  • CPR certified preferred
Performance Requirements Knowledge
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and is properly used during the procedure of acquiring an IV access for the use of a contrast agent when necessary.
  • Knowledge of when to consult with the radiologist if a contrast agent would help in the diagnosis of the exam being performed or not and also if contrast should not be given when unnecessary and would not provide any useful information to save the possibility of a contrast reaction.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and practice standards pertaining to MRI.

  • Skill in basic and advanced positioning, including working with patients with implants.

  • Ability to start and set up an IV system in the event of a contrast reaction to the contrast agent used in MRI studies.
  • Ability to understand medical terminology to the point that when necessary can interact directly with the radiologists and all referring physicians to insure the proper exam is being performed should the physicians order form conflict with the actual PCI obtained by the patient.
  • Ability to maintain a clean environment inside the MRI room.
  • Ability to perform QA on the MRI system when necessary and document results in the MRI QA log book.
  • Ability to identify problems within the department.
  • Ability to demonstrate genuine interest in working with people and to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work independently

    Mental/Physical Requirements

    Must be able to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires positioning patients. Some stress related to anxious patients.
