Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full‑time SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Deputy Director of Security to work in the ICBM Systems Directorate at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah.
Position (986245) is an NH‑2210‑04 with a typical 2026 salary range of $125,776‑$192,331. Recruitment, Relocation, Retention, and Student Loan Incentives may be authorized.
The AFNWC ICBM Systems Directorate (ICBMSD) is responsible for the land‑based leg of the nuclear triad, which includes modernization and sustainment of ICBMs and associated weapon system command and control, flight and launch systems, missile silos, and other ground infrastructure.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Director for the NIS Division, providing leadership and executive technical direction in the planning, execution, and oversight of a comprehensive, multi‑layered security program. A critical role encompassing both strategic and technical advisory cybersecurity responsibilities to ensure the security and integrity of systems along with trust and reliability of personnel.
This role will establish and lead comprehensive security enterprise strategies, policies, and practices aligned with national defense and nuclear deterrence objectives, overseeing the implementation of integrated cybersecurity and traditional information protection security measures, coordinating with key stakeholders, and managing a team dedicated to the security of the systems and personnel supporting ICBMSD.

- Mission Risk Authority:
Acts as the primary technical leader balancing operational capability with cybersecurity risk. Oversees the integration of proactive threat hunting, active network defense, and risk mitigation strategies into the modernization and sustainment of the weapon system portfolio. - Technical Workforce Management:
Executes full‑spectrum supervisory and personnel management responsibilities for a highly specialized, multi‑disciplinary technical team. Sets performance standards, directs cross‑functional efforts, resolves complex issues, and pursues advanced developmental and training opportunities to maintain a cutting‑edge cyber workforce. Policy Development and Integration:
Formulates and oversees the implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity and traditional security policies, ensuring these policies effectively integrate with existing security frameworks. - Operations & Enterprise
Risk Management:
Directs operational processes and functions to ensure successful defensive cyber operations. Leverages expertise in Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodologies to advise senior leadership on system risk posture and compliance. - Acquisition & Supply Chain Security Integration:
Serves as a subject‑matter expert for IT/Cyber acquisitions, guiding contracting offices by embedding stringent cybersecurity, supply‑chain risk management, and system performance requirements into contract language and providing technical oversight for major IT contract awards. - Strategic Advising & Stakeholder Engagement:
Represents the organization at enterprise and DoW levels, collaborating with multi‑disciplined program managers to align cyber policies with mission requirements. Delivers high‑level briefings, leads organizational change in policy direction, and builds consensus among senior leadership, customers, and contractors.
- Expertise in Cybersecurity Practices and Principles:
Demonstrated ability in managing comprehensive cybersecurity programs within different classified spaces, with a deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, protocols, and best practices. - Strategic Leadership and Vision:
